Confédération de l'Ohio
The Confédération de l'Ohio (Confederation of the Ohio), commonly known as La Confédération or Ohio, is a country located primarily in the lower Great Lakes region of North America. Spanning from the Delmarva Peninsula and the Atlantic Ocean in the east, to the Mississippi River and Minnesota in the west, and a population of over 71 million, it is a relatively large and populous country. Les Confédérations capital is Milwaukee on Lake Michigan, chosen for its relative political neutrality during the nations early years. Founded in 1821, what became La Confédération had been a mixing ground of French and Native American culture for over 150 years before the policies of post revolution France began to put that way of life in danger. Initially enthusiastic about the liberalization of French politics, the new French government began forcing Native peoples from their lands in the early 1800s, in an effort to strengthen control on their North American possession, and make room for European settlers. This policy decision was a radical shift from previous ways of governing the territory, and as those policies moved northward, discontent grew, culminating in the April 23rd, 1821 deceleration of Independence. The nation would be built on the enlightenment ideals of the French Revolution, as a state equally representative of the peoples who live there.
