[NPC Event] Trouble in the South China Sea

A freighter from the Karnata Kingdom in southern Africa, en route to Japan, has run into trouble in the South China Sea. The vessel has encountered engine difficulties and has broken down around the coordinates 14.2, 114.6, right in the middle of the South China Sea. Unable to do the repairs themselves, the crew of the vessel have sent a distress call to the surrounding nations requesting aid. If no aid is forthcoming, the King of Karnata makes it clear that he will send several warships to the region to provide assistance himself. The Japanese have not yet made any comments about the situation. The freighter contains a shipment of rare metals, alongside other valuable trade goods.

Upon receiving the distress call from the freighter a message will be sent back.
"Karnata freighter, this is the Peoples Naval Guard of the People's Holy Tai Empire. We received your distress call loud and clear. We are sending out two frigates and a support craft to provide protection and repairs.
Is anyone on board hurt or are supplies needed?"

The voice would ask.

There would be some static as the ship sends its response. "We have two engineers who were injured when the engine was damaged. We would be most grateful if you could tow us back to shore for repairs. Thank you for coming to our aid!"

Aware of the proximity of the Tai vessel to the ship in distress, the ROC Navy elects not to dispatch a vessel to assist. Instead, the ROC Air Force deploys a single Y-312 over the area. Carrying a SIGINT payload, it intercepts communication signals between the two vessels to the best of its ability. While capable of flying at 24,000 m, it instead flies at 16,000 m to increase collection efficacy.

Upon the Y-312 being picked up on radar 3x J-7IG
Fighters would be scrambled from Quy Nhon to shadow the aircraft and let it be know that it's being watched at Range.
At the same time a Ka-25PS would depart from a repurposed freighter that acts like a FOB for at sea rescues. On board are 2 pilots, 6 medical staff, and 4 mechanics. The helicopter would drop off the 4 mechanics and two medical staff who would get the patients ready for transport before the helicopter would pick up the patients and two medical staff before returning to the FOB. The two Krivak I frigates and the heavy tugboat arrived at the vessel.

The captain of the freighter would greet the group of medics and mechanics upon their arrival. Standing beside him are three men armed with machine guns. "Welcome aboard! The two injured engineers are resting in our medical bay, let me show you to it." He would then lead the medics and mechanics to the medical bay - a small chamber that is unstaffed, but has two heavily injured men lying in beds. "You are free to assist as needed, if you need any assistance, I'm certain that members of the crew would be more than happy to help you." Leaving the medics with one of the armed guards, he guides the mechanics to the lower levels of the ship, stopping before the doors to the engine room. "Through these doors is our engine room. I will let you have a look to see what you can do. Chetan and Nanda will be remaining here with you, though they will not interfere. If you wish to go elsewhere on the vessel, Chetan and Nanda will go with you. If you need me, I will be on the bridge." The two armed men, Chetan and Nanda grunt their agreement, as the captain leaves the engine room.

The engineers would find that they would be unable to fix the issue while the ship is at sea.

Mexican ports in the Philippines are offered as a safe harbor for the ship to and crew, but given the assistance already being rendered, no further aid is given.

The Y-312 would remain on its course, being sure to stay in international airspace.

The commanding officer of the medical staff would shake the Captain's hand then prep the two injured crew members for transport. He would address the Captain,
"We are preparing to take them to the on site hospital at Sa Ky Port, where the tug we brought will tow you for repairs. Your crew members are in good hands."
He says while his crew takes vitals.

"Thank you. When we get to shore, if you need to unload the vessel to work on it we need a secure location for our cargo. One which is guarded 24/7 by trustworthy men. Further, I do not want any pieces of the cargo out of sight of my men at any time." The Captain replies, directing some of his officers to help the tug boats attach to the freighter. Tai men on the freighter would likely notice that the armed guards would not let them go anywhere alone, and that they would be guarding any access they might have to the cargo holds.

[Feel free to bring it to shore now]

The vessel is brought to port and isn't required to be emptied for the repairs. The injured crew members are taken care of and updates are given to their Captain as they become avaliable. Upon everyone arriving in Sa Ky, a call would be made to Karnata to update them on everything. Nothing is kept secret and transparency is the building block of trust.

The captain is pleased that the cargo does not have to be unloaded, and his guards remain onboard during their time in Sa Ky. Karnata expresses its gratitude to the Tai for assisting their vessel. While they are in port, some of the crew would explore the city a little bit, but would ultimately return to the ship upon finding it full of Christians. The captain would allow the injured crew members an extra two days of rest after they are taken care of, before making plans to embark once more.

We would help with the plans and when the time comes would escort the the freighter out of Tai waters and through to international waters.

[switching the location of Karnata from South Africa to Madagascar.]

The captain thanks the Tai and continues on his way to the Shogunate. Once in international waters they continue their voyage without incident.

[secret]

Upon arriving at the Shogunate the vessel docks at the port of Matsusaka. The captain overseas the unloading of the rare metals and valuable trade goods. However, as the vessel is unloading, one of the contains falls and crashes onto the docks. As workers rush to clean up the mess, a reporter from the Muslim Japanese republic of Shikoku snaps photos of the broken container. Inside it would be the dead bodies of over two dozen young women and children. This reporter is spotted and captured by Shogunate guards, and dragged away, unconscious. In the chaos of his capture, his camera is kicked into the nearby shrubs next to a local temple. Although the camera itself is damaged, the film is intact.

The rest of the cargo is unloaded carefully, with no further incidents occurring.

[public]

The next day the reporter is publicly tried as a "foreign agent found causing harm to public order in Matsusaka" and sentenced to execution by samurai. Three days later he is executed in a private ceremony. Throughout his trial he denies all accusations and states that he was a tourist. He makes no mention to his, now lost, camera during the trial.
