The CANDU Corporation is contacted by the Atomic Insitute once again, they are requesting a meeting with their Nuclear Scientists and Engineers to develop a Fast-Breeder Reactor to produce higher amounts of Nuclear Materials for use in their arsenal. The Meeting will take place in Saskatoon amongst Civil Engineers/Physicists and CANDU counterparts.

The Reactor will be designated the CANDU-MSFBR/1, this device will be designed as a Molten Salt reactor with an open circulation core to a Reprocessing Facility for resource extraction and quick turnaround times, the Cooling System will be a part of infrastructural development to utilize these FBRs. The Fuel Type has not been chosen yet but will be decided in the meeting between CANDU and Civilian counterparts on the specifications of the MSFBR.

Due to this project, Physicists and Engineers across the Alliance have been called to Saskatoon to provide their insight and knowledge in the development of the new CANDU MSFBR, discussions will begin about what specific fuel compositions must be used to obtain specific minerals in the breeder reactors, proposed different variations of the MSFBR/1.

The Council is already in agreeance on the Coolant infrastructure being a Pool-Type amongst all reactors with continued circulation to cool the aforementioned coolant.

Following the meeting between CANDU Scientists and Engineers and their Civil Counterparts the Atomic Alliance has received the official blueprints of the newly theorized CANDU-MSFBR/1, however, the council has decided on two types of the MSFBR, the first will utilize an 80% U238 in a UF4 solution with an enrichment rate of 20% U235 to sustain necessary Neutrons within the reactor, this reactor will be designated the MSFBR/1-U. The secondary type of this MSFBR will utilize a Thorium Fuel Cycle, therefor instead of U238 this reactor will have Th232 as the 80% Fertile Material mixed with 80% U235 in a UF4 solution intended to produce U233 designated the MSFBR/1-Th. Both reactors will be cooled with a mixture of Carrier Salts consisting of LiF, NaF, or BeF2.

Both reactors will operate at a temperature between 700-800oC, therefor during the Breeding process these reactors will also be capable of powering the nearby cities that surround them.

Blueprints of the MSFBR/1-U/Th

As intended, the MSFBR/1 will feature an open-circulation core in an onsite processing facility, inside automated computers working in conjunction with manned employees in shielded oversight facilities will extract the Fissile Materials from the Fertile Materials and purify the solution throughout the reactor process. With this method it will allow quicker and easier extraction of Fissile Materials needed for our arsenal while also allowing a quick turnaround time for the reactor, essentially no time is wasted in between operations as the reactor is actively filled while drained. Furthermore, with the reactor operating in a Molten State the risk of a meltdown in operation is drastically reduced, however, as a safety measure, the MSFBR will feature Emergency Dump Tanks designed to quickly cool and stop the reactions within the reactor, solidify the Carrier Salts and preventing any damage to the tubing.
