Japanese Freedom of Navigation OOC
@Japanese State Do you maybe want to get your military traits post in before continuing with the RP? Just in case things escalate.

Cancel what I said early about maybe needing them. @Japanese State as per the rules, you need your military traits approved before you can begin to use your military. I should have checked that first before making the initial post.

I don't think freedom of navigation acts, where I quote literally just sail ships through international waters, necessarily requires military traits.

Except you're sending military ships through these international waters, rather than civilian ships. Thus the need for the military traits.

Why in gods name has China been broken into 5 ineffectual states that dont seem to have any kinda care in the world about whats going down? Shits uber boring dog.

I disagree, breaking China into several smaller nations has the potential to be more interesting, as it gives more flavour to the region. Also, the idea we're going for is to break larger nations (such as Canada, the US, Russia, etc) into several smaller NPCs to make things a little more dynamic, rather than having one large nation. And they do have cares, based upon their region and government. Besides, it's not like the NPCs can do any military responses right now, as Japan does not have his military traits yet.Republic of Italy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 5:06 am Why in gods name has China been broken into 5 ineffectual states that dont seem to have any kinda care in the world about whats going down? Nanyue is a democratic nation, and so has no issues with what Japan is doing.
Yue is communist and has a big issue, thus their desires for a meeting.
Shanghai is a city state, and again, has little issues with what Japan is doing.
The Feng Empire is the big scary China that Ionia was referring to, but since they don't have any coastline further south, their concerns are a tad mitigated, but would still want the meeting as they view Nanyue, Yue, and Shanghai as part of China proper, and see Japan's actions as being a potential threat to their region.
Manchuria is too far north to really have a care about the local situation in the Taiwanese Strait.
As for the response of Nanyue and Shanghai, as Japan said, he's literally just sailing ships through international waters, why would they have any issues with that?

@Republic of Italy @Japanese State After giving it some thought, I'll eliminate Yue and Shanghai as independent states, leaving them part of the Feng Empire. I will also give the Feng Empire Sichuan, Gansu, and Qinghai. Tibet is independent, and the Uighurs (XinJiang) will be part of Mongolia along with the rest of Inner Mongolia. To further make things more interesting, Hawaii, California, Baja California, and Baja California Sur will be part of the Republic of Yingzhou, a former Chinese colony with close ties to the Feng Empire.

I've updated the post to be more reflective of an interesting Chinese reaction.
