The Commonwealth of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, is the Unified nation state established on 16 December 1653 in which England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and associated territories were joined together in the British Commonwealth and governed by a Lord Protector. It began when Barebone's Parliament was dismissed, and the Instrument of Government appointed Oliver Cromwell Lord Protector of the Commonwealth. Cromwell died in September 1657 and was succeeded by his son Richard Cromwell.

Richard resigned in May 1658 due to his inability to control either the Army or Parliament. He was replaced by Lord Samuel Fletcher, who solidified the Republican values of Oliver Cromwell and codified them under the British Constitution, a template legal document on par with the Magna Carta in terms of Global Impact.
